Antonio Virgilio
Antonio Virgilio was an Italian architect and designer born in Messina on August 2, 1939. He obtained his degree in architecture from the University of Naples in 1970 and practiced his profession in Messina, where his studio was located at Via Giacomo Venezian 23.
His career and activities were extremely diverse, as he worked in various fields, including architectural design for both exteriors and interiors, museography, set design, as well as urban planning. He also played a significant role in the setup of the Regional Museum of Messina, serving as the technical director from 1989 to 2006. Moreover, he curated prestigious exhibitions, including those dedicated to artists such as Antonello da Messina in Messina, Catania, and Palermo, and an exhibition on Caravaggio in Syracuse.
