The famous Chiavari chair, called “chiavarina” is very light with a slender structure. It was built for the first time at the end of the 18th century by the artisan Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi known as “il Campanino”. It is said that this model was commissioned by the Marquis and first president of the Economic Society Stefano Rivarola, who after a staying in Paris was struck by some exquisitely made chairs, solid and light at the same time. In the 1950s, the structure was made of brass with the Made in Italy brand and with a high back, a very particular type of seat to see, its vertical line gives a lightness and elevation upwards. The most important high-back chair was designed by architect Charles R. Mackintosh for the bedroom of the Hill House by OF Walter W. Blakie. The chair had a purely aesthetic-artistic purpose.
