Costes model armchair produced by Driade, brand Aleph design Philippe Starck year 1984. Structure in black painted tubular steel, shell in curved and black lacquered plywood. Seat with polyurethane foam padding and fixed leather cover. Brand of the manufacture and of the designer embossed under the seat.

Set of two armchairs in excellent vintage condition.
There are objects that are universally recognized as icons. The Costes armchair which, in 1984, marked the beginning of the collaboration between Philippe Starck and Driade, and the consecration of the then unknown designer in Italy, is certainly one of these objects. Designed for the homonymous, now deceased, Parisian café, it owes its timeless success to the absolute shape: an enveloping dark wood body and three strongly inclined legs.
